FuturesTalk is the window
from which we view the entire spectrum of the trading world! Trading is a
24 hour a day endeavor. The key is to
identify the best times of day to trade for you. There
is not one moment during a 24 hour period
(except weekends) where
there is not a financial instrument available
somewhere to trade instantly... Where the sun is shining in the world is the
main place where
the action is during each day.

| DISCLAIMER:
Trading is risky activity,
but people trade every day... we try to
trade wisely for maximum success.
All the above are traded. No one trader, trades all of these entities
every day but all traders who work with us are exposed to the intricacies of
trading all these entities. |
The questions:
What, When, Where, Why, How,
and How Much?
What
is Cosmic?
Cosmic = currencies,
options, stocks, metals, index futures, commodities and bonds. Just like any
other business entity, the trading community has turfs. There are different
kinds of turfs. An example of a turf that most every individual understands is
automobiles. Let's just categorize cars into 3 major turfs:
American, Asian and European manufacturers. We can now break them into
smaller groups, American = General Motors &
Ford: Asian = Toyota &
Honda, European = BMW & Volkswagen. You will seldom find a GM dealer
offering BMW. It is hard to buy a new Toyota at a BMW dealer.... all
because of turf and "turf wars." We break down the
turf barriers for YOUR benefit.
Generally, you will find
the trading industry broken into different types of dealers... sometimes
governed by different government regulatory agencies.
Where
should you trade?
You should trade where you
get the best margin, best fees, best responsiveness and best service.
Many of us trade at Global because it offers the
best of all the above
What
is margin?
What does it mean when a
broker offers "better" margin? How do you compare
available margin at one broker to margin at another broker? Providing "better"
margin is higher risk to the broker. Why does one broker offer better
margin and another one doesn't? One answer is back office support.
Some brokers are interested only in the heavy hitters, deep pockets, big
funds, where the money is. Some brokers want to serve the consumer...
individuals with some money but not yet considered heavy hitters... mainly,
regardless of wealth, because these individuals are learning the business and
should not yet put huge sums on in the market
while still an apprentice. These same brokers want to serve clients after success has
come providing increasing support and increasingly lower fees. Overnight
margin and day margin are huge factors. For example, the eMini S&P
500 overnight margin is officially $3,650... so, for every eMini contract held
overnight, the trader needs in excess of $3,650 in the account... limiting a
$10,000 account to only 2 contracts because 3 X 3,650 = greater than
$10,000. Typical Day margin is about half of night
margin. However, a few
select brokers offer much better day margin. Your challenge is to find a
good broker who will offer good day margin. I found
mine...

(N O T I C E: FuturesTalk members have been given a wonderful
opportunity to be the first North American users of DySen. DySen is in
beta
test, so there are imperfections in the software that we beta testers will need
to identify and bring to the attention of the software
engineers; I have
already witnessed, are the best and most responsive in the system software
development business, a business I have been associated with since
1973. We have brought together these
outstanding moderators to help you trade.
